From 1990-1994 Sam worked in a Sports Medicine Clinic and in a Hospital as a Physical Therapist Aide. During this time, he attended Montgomery County Community College completing courses in Nutrition, Weight Training, Yoga, CPR and First aid, in addition to general studies. Sam has also worked as a Personal Trainer at several gyms in the Montgomery and Bucks County Areas.
In 1995, Sam ruptured a disc in his cervical spine compressing his spinal cord. This resulted in debilitating pain, numbness and loss of fine motor skills in his extremities. Neurosurgeons concluded that without surgical intervention he could be paralyzed from the neck down. However, surgeons cautioned due to the severity of the injury a positive outcome could not be guaranteed, and the symptoms could continue. Feeling hopeless by this discouraging prognosis, Sam postponed surgery and started seeking alternative methods for pain relief. With the help of Western and Eastern Medicines, along with his strong desire to regain his health, Sam slowly recovered from his injury.
It was through his experience that Sam gained an understanding and appreciation for healing methods which offered an alternative to surgery and avoided a life long regiment of pain medication.
